Rejang Lebong Police Intensify Patrols to Prevent Motorcycle Gangs in 15 Sub-Districts

The Rejang Lebong Police Resort in Bengkulu, Indonesia, is stepping up patrols in all 15 of its sub-districts to preemptively address the emergence of motorcycle gangs and prevent youth brawls.

This initiative comes in response to the growing phenomenon of anarchic motorcycle groups that are causing public disturbance and disrupting order within the Bengkulu province. Police Chief AKBP Syahrul Hariady noted that the rapid advancement of technology and social media influences how teenagers interact, leading to issues like motorcycle gang activity and mass brawls, which are no longer confined to major cities but are spreading to regional areas.

To prevent the development of motorcycle gangs or anarchic groups involving children and young people, Polres Rejang Lebong has intensified routine patrols in 15 sub-districts in Rejang Lebong.

To combat this trend, the Rejang Lebong Police have not only increased routine patrols by the Samapta Unit but have also established a special task force, the Quick Response Unit (URC) of the Satreskrim Polres Rejang Lebong. This dedicated team is intended for swift action against any emerging threats.

Beyond law enforcement efforts, Hariady stressed the critical role of parents in preventing juvenile delinquency. He urged parents in Rejang Lebong Regency to closely monitor their children's activities, especially after school hours. Hariady emphasized that preventing such issues cannot solely rely on the police and schools; active family involvement is essential to ensure young people do not become involved with motorcycle gangs or street fights.
