Initially, he was moved to the C3 classification, indicating a higher level of impairment than his previous C4 status. However, this change, while making him eligible under UCI rules, was followed by another reclassification that ultimately rendered him ineligible for the Commonwealth Games. The classification scale in para cycling ranges from 1 to 5, with 1 representing the most severe impairment and 5 the least.
