'How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days' sequel in development; Kate Hudson producing

Paramount Pictures has officially given the green light for a sequel to the beloved 2003 romantic comedy "How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days." The project is currently in its very early stages of development, with the studio actively searching for a screenwriter. Original star Kate Hudson is on board as a producer, and there is a strong intention for her co-star, Matthew McConaughey, to also return and reprise his iconic role. The final casting decisions will hinge on the creative direction taken by the script. Stacey Sher will also produce through her company, Shiny Penny. The original film, inspired by the book of the same name by Michele Alexander and Jeannie Long, followed Andie Anderson (Hudson), a magazine writer tasked with documenting how to make a man break up with her in just ten days. Unbeknownst to her, she targets Benjamin Barry (McConaughey), an ambitious advertising executive who has simultaneously bet his boss that he can make any woman fall in love with him in the same timeframe. Their plans collide when genuine feelings develop, complicating their initial schemes. The 2003 film, directed by Donald Petrie, was a significant commercial success, grossing approximately $180 million worldwide against a budget of around $50 million. It has since become a staple of the romantic comedy genre. The supporting cast of the original film included notable actors like Kathryn Hahn, Adam Goldberg, Thomas Lennon, Michael Michele, and Shalom Harlow.
