Hsinchu Mayoral Election: DPP Candidate Chuang Ching-cheng Criticizes Incumbent Kao Hung-an's 'Chaotic' Governance

Chuang Ching-cheng, the Democratic Progressive Party's candidate for Hsinchu mayor, is challenging incumbent Kao Hung-an, who faces pressure from both the Kuomintang and Taiwan People's Party. Chuang highlights his integrity and clean record as his primary strengths, contrasting them with Kao's administration, which he criticizes as having "chaotic" policies and stalled city development.

In an interview, Chuang pointed to multiple public satisfaction surveys that consistently rank Kao's performance poorly. He cited frequent personnel changes within the city government, including the simultaneous departure of three section chiefs at the Public Works Department within six months, creating an atmosphere of uncertainty among civil servants. Chuang likened the situation to a runaway train, leaving citizens unsure of their direction.

Specific examples of Kao's alleged mismanagement include a nearly $120 million renovation of a cycling stadium that remains unusable and has not hosted any events. Chuang noted that the city now plans to spend another $3 billion to rebuild it. He also pointed to delays in the second phase of the Keya Water Resource Center, which is already operating at 110% capacity, and the stalled construction of an international performance center and the municipal library, which is significantly behind schedule after nearly five years.

Chuang asserts that Hsinchu residents need a capable leader to restart city operations and build a happy and secure community. He believes his comprehensive administrative and legislative background makes him the ideal candidate to lead the city forward.
