Hsinchu's World High School to Close, Campus May Be Acquired by Kang Chiao

World High School, a private institution in Hsinchu City with a 55-year legacy, is set to cease operations. The school, which stopped admitting new students last year, will officially exit Taiwan's educational landscape in 2026.

Speculation is rife that Kang Chiao International School will acquire the campus. World High School, established in 1971, was a significant vocational education provider in the region, focusing on culinary arts, design, and automotive repair. Its closure marks the end of an era for many alumni and educators who recall its prominent role in Hsinchu's educational history.

The Hsinchu City Government's Education Department has acknowledged awareness of the potential takeover. While private schools fall under the jurisdiction of the Ministry of Education's National Academy for Educational Research, the local department is focused on safeguarding the educational rights of current students and facilitating a smooth transition for the faculty.
