Huang Kuo-chang Campaigns in Yilan, Calls on Grassroots Supporters to Send Two Young Candidates to the Council

Taiwan People’s Party Chairman Huang Kuo-chang traveled to Yilan to campaign for county council candidates Lin Tsang-you and Wang Chien-ming, calling on the party’s grassroots supporters to rally behind them.

Huang said the party had spent the past several years expanding space for a “third force” in Yilan. He thanked county party chief Chen Wan-hui for strengthening that foundation through successive elections and urged supporters who want a new style of politics to go to the polls and concentrate their votes on the two candidates.

Huang described Lin as someone willing to enter difficult politics and connect with residents through music. Lin has taught music for more than 20 years and hopes to bring a stronger arts and culture presence to the council. Wang is campaigning on the message of a “clean Luodong,” which Huang presented as a practical concern close to ordinary residents’ daily lives.

Chen said Huang had traveled from Hualien to Yilan in the rain. She described Lin and Wang as committed supporters of former Taiwan People’s Party chairman Ko Wen-je and the party’s grassroots movement who were willing to stand as candidates in a traditionally difficult area. She also called on young people living outside their hometowns to return and vote.

Chen said coordination with Yilan county magistrate candidate Wu Tsung-hsien was going well and expressed hope that all candidates nominated through the blue-white cooperation would win.
