Hue City police find passenger bus carrying over 27,000 illegal cigarette packs

Traffic police in Hue City, Vietnam, have seized a passenger bus carrying a significant quantity of smuggled cigarettes. The discovery was made on July 30th by officers from the Phu Loc Traffic Police Station during a patrol along National Highway 1.

The bus, identified by license plate 72H - 070.xx, was traveling southbound when officers noticed traffic safety violations and signaled for it to stop. Upon inspection, the driver, identified as D.B.Q., a 39-year-old from Thanh Hóa province, was unable to present any invoices or documents to prove the origin of the goods.

Inside the bus's cargo area, authorities found 37 sacks containing a total of 27,070 packs of cigarettes bearing foreign markings. The Phu Loc Traffic Police Station, in coordination with the Loc An Commune Police, confiscated the vehicle and all the contraband.

Initially, the driver provided inconsistent statements to the authorities. However, through investigative measures, law enforcement officials clarified his involvement in transporting the illegal cigarettes. The Hue City Traffic Police Department is continuing its investigation with relevant units to determine the origin of the smuggled goods and ensure strict legal action is taken.
