Hugo Dellien advances in US Open qualifiers

Hugo Dellien, Bolivia's top-ranked tennis player, has successfully advanced to the second round of the US Open qualifiers. He secured his victory in the first phase by defeating Tunisia's Moez Echargui with a consistent performance, winning 6-4, 6-4.

The match, which lasted one hour and 25 minutes, took place on Court 14 at the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center. Dellien demonstrated superiority throughout the match, breaking Echargui's serve in the opening game. Although Echargui mounted a challenge in the second set, taking a 3-0 lead, Dellien capitalized on powerful returns to break his opponent's serve twice more, ultimately winning the set and the match.

Dellien's next opponent will be Federico Cina of Italy, who previously advanced after his compatriot Luca Nardi retired from their match. Dellien and Cina have met once before, in the qualifying rounds of the 2023 Bastad Open, where Dellien emerged victorious in a three-set contest. Their upcoming match is scheduled for Wednesday evening.
