Husband dances joyfully at thanksgiving service after wife's release from captivity

In Ogbomoso, Oyo State, a wave of relief and celebration swept through the community following the safe return of Mrs Rachael Alamu, the principal of Ahoro Esinle School. Her husband, Professor Alamu, led an exuberant thanksgiving service at their church, captured in a viral video showing him dancing joyfully with fellow worshippers. The service was held to express gratitude after weeks of agonizing uncertainty over the fate of Mrs Alamu and other teachers and pupils kidnapped on May 15.

The victims were held captive for more than 50 days before security agencies secured their release, a development confirmed by the Special Adviser to President Bola Tinubu on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga. Following their freedom, Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde visited the rescued individuals on Saturday at the Military Hospital in Ibadan, where they are currently receiving essential medical care and psychosocial support.

The formal handover of the rescued pupils and teachers to the Oyo State Government is expected on Monday, after which they will be reunited with their families. For Professor Alamu and his loved ones, the thanksgiving service represented a deeply emotional and public moment of celebration.
