Hwang In-beom benched for Porto's season opener; club wins 2-0

South Korean midfielder Hwang In-beom did not feature in FC Porto's opening match of the Portuguese Primeira Liga season, remaining an unused substitute as his team defeated Arouca 2-0. The match took place on August 10 (KST) at the Estádio do Dragão in Porto.

Porto, the reigning champions, began their quest for a second consecutive league title and a record 32nd overall with a solid home win. Hwang, who transferred from Feyenoord on July 21, was named on the substitutes' bench but did not get an opportunity to play in the league opener.

This marks a contrast to his recent participation in the Portuguese Super Cup on August 2, where Hwang made his official debut for Porto, coming on as a substitute in the second half of their 1-0 victory against SCU Torreense. He also experienced winning his first trophy with the club in that match, raising expectations for the new season.

However, the league opener saw him watching from the sidelines, a potentially disappointing start to his regular season campaign. Porto's goals came from André Silva, who converted a penalty in the ninth minute, and midfielder Gabri Veiga, who also scored from the penalty spot just before halftime. Porto controlled the game in the second half to secure the win.
