‘I never wanted P-Square back’, Mr P opens up on fallout

Nigerian singer Peter Okoye, known as Mr P, has revealed that his recent reunion with his twin brother and former P-Square bandmate, Paul Okoye (Rudeboy), was not a genuine reconciliation but rather a "fake reunion."

It was a fake reunion. I came back from Atlanta. Before we descended, I got a message from my caretaker that I should forgive Paul because he had apologised.

In a video shared on Instagram, Mr P recounted the events leading to their brief reconciliation after years of public disputes. The brothers initially split in 2017, reunited in 2021, but their relationship soured again due to disagreements involving their elder brother and former manager, Jude Okoye.

Mr P stated that after returning from Atlanta, his caretaker informed him that Paul had apologized and sought forgiveness. He mentioned trying to contact his brother by phone without success. However, upon arriving home, he found members of Paul's team waiting. His wife later told him that Paul had visited their home around 4 a.m., appearing visibly shaken and expressing that he was tired.

My wife came back and held me and told me that Paul came to the house at 4 a.m. and was scared. She recorded the situation. She said Paul kept saying he was tired.

Encouraged to make the second move since Paul had reached out, Mr P hugged his brother. The reconciliation reportedly spread within the family after Jude Okoye's wife informed Jude that the brothers had settled their differences. Despite the emotional reunion, Mr P insisted he never intended to revive P-Square as a music group. He recalled Paul expressing a desire to focus on rebuilding the duo, but Mr P declined, stating, "we are back as brothers, but I am not part of P-Square."

I was told that since Paul had made the first move, I should make the second move. I walked to Paul and we hugged.

Jude Okoye then suggested they record a video announcing the reunion for fans. Mr P expressed his disbelief but participated, noting they did not introduce themselves as P-Square. While fans celebrated, Mr P remained unconvinced due to a comment Paul made that night: "Peter, I do not care if you like what I am about to say or not, but fk Rudeboy, fk Mr P, bring back P-Square." Mr P maintained that his priority was restoring family ties over reviving the music group.

I posted a video of my new song. He asked about it, and I asked if he had plans. He said he wanted to focus on P-Square. I told him we are back as brothers, but I am not part of P-Square.
