I will tackle hunger, poverty in Osun, says Oyebamiji

Bola Oyebamiji, the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate for the upcoming Osun State governorship election, has pledged to prioritize the welfare of the state's residents and invest in key development sectors. During a town hall meeting hosted by Arise TV, Oyebamiji outlined his administration's commitment to eradicating hunger and poverty, alongside significant investments in education and health.

My journey and my destiny, which I have a pact with, took me to Osun as the incoming governor of Osun State. Governance is about people and not about segments; it’s not about an area, a city; it’s the entire people of Osun that I want to serve.

Drawing from his extensive experience in public service at both state and federal levels, including his tenure as Commissioner for Finance, Oyebamiji stated his intention to govern for the entire populace of Osun. "Governance is about people and not about segments; it’s not about an area, a city; it’s the entire people of Osun that I want to serve," he declared. He emphasized that improving the welfare of the people and ensuring security are paramount objectives.

Oyebamiji also highlighted the importance of human capital development and capital investment within his agenda. His past roles include serving as the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of the Osun State Investment Company for two years. His policy proposals aim to address the state's challenges by focusing on people-centric governance and strategic development.

You have seen that the welfare of our people in Osun is very paramount; security is very important; these are the things that I want to bring up, and we want to banish hunger and poverty, and I want to invest seriously in agriculture, education and health.

Meanwhile, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has bolstered security for the election. Victoria Eta-Messi, Director of Voter Education and Publicity, confirmed that INEC, in collaboration with security agencies, has intensified voter protection at polling units, identifying potential flashpoints. Sensitive election materials have arrived in Osogbo, and over 25,310 personnel from the Nigeria Police Force, Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, and the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission have been deployed across the state.
