Iberoamerica to launch certified cultural routes and itineraries

Iberoamerica is set to launch a new program to certify its cultural routes and itineraries, a move coordinated by the Organization of Ibero-American States (OEI). The announcement came during the first meeting of the Ibero-American Program for Cultural Routes and Itineraries, held in Huelva, Spain.

This pioneering initiative aims to establish common criteria, parameters, and indicators for certifying these significant cultural pathways across the region. Raphael Callou, OEI's Director General for Culture, highlighted the program's importance, stating it represents a significant step for cultural cooperation. He emphasized that it will strengthen the shared cultural heritage of Iberoamerica and promote sustainable development in local territories.

The program also seeks to encourage community participation and foster greater cultural integration, drawing on the region's shared history, diversity, and values. This initiative was one of the key outcomes from the last Ibero-American Conference of Ministers of Culture, held in Barcelona in November.
