The suspicion is that the man was on a kayak.

Later, the Coast Guard received a report from a caller who believed they saw a person in distress at sea. While the Coast Guard had not visually confirmed anyone in trouble by early evening, search efforts were initiated, with rescue teams also participating. Additionally, the Coast Guard was involved in a medical evacuation for a motorcyclist injured near Ísafjörður. A medical transport plane from Akureyri was dispatched for this task. During these operations, another Coast Guard helicopter assisted the police in Southern Iceland by locating a person who was stranded in Emstrur. This individual was successfully retrieved and returned near Emstrur without requiring further medical transport.
