Icelandic Footballer Rescues Man from Burning Car in South Korea

Icelandic footballer Hólmbert Aron Friðjónsson has been hailed for his bravery after rescuing a man from a burning car in South Korea. Friðjónsson, who plays for Gwangju in the South Korean league, was returning from an away match with a teammate when they witnessed the dramatic scene.

The driver of the team bus was afraid of the situation and, according to Hólmbert, many feared the car would explode. They were therefore actually forbidden to leave the bus.

A car had veered off the road after colliding with a truck and subsequently caught fire. The driver was reportedly unconscious and unaware of the escalating danger. According to Friðjónsson, the bus driver was hesitant to stop, fearing the car might explode, and initially forbade passengers from exiting the vehicle.

Undeterred, Friðjónsson and his teammate disregarded the warnings. They exited the bus and rushed to the burning vehicle. Together, they managed to pull the unconscious driver to safety moments before the situation could have turned far more dire.

Hólmbert did not let that stop him. He followed his friend who jumped out of the bus and together they managed to pull the driver out of the car.

The incident has garnered significant attention in South Korea, with video footage of the rescue captured by a passing car circulating widely. Friðjónsson and his friend's quick thinking and courageous actions undoubtedly prevented a potentially fatal outcome.
