IDF probes video appearing to show soldier beating Palestinian alongside settlers

An investigation is underway into an Israeli soldier's conduct after a video surfaced Saturday appearing to show him beating a Palestinian man in the West Bank village of Idna. The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) confirmed they were probing the incident.

The circulated footage depicts the soldier alongside two Israeli settlers striking the Palestinian man, who was knocked to the ground. The military reported that soldiers were deployed to Idna following a "confrontation" between Israelis and Palestinians.

Official Palestinian news agency WAFA reported on the same confrontation, stating that settlers assaulted Palestinians near a mosque in Idna. WAFA also alleged that settlers, allegedly protected by Israeli troops, fired bullets into the air and detained seven Palestinians after using live ammunition, stun grenades, and tear gas to force them from the mosque.

WAFA further detailed that settlers had set up a tent in the al-Jalatiya neighborhood, brought sheep, and vandalized a Palestinian vehicle. The IDF stated, "The incident and the conduct of the forces are under review." The confrontation was one of several violent incidents reported across the West Bank over the weekend, resulting in injuries to several Palestinians, including one with a bullet wound.
