Illegal dumping of construction waste near Mount Parnitha stopped

Municipal authorities in Acharnes have apprehended two individuals caught in the act of illegally dumping construction waste and bulky items near Mount Parnitha.

During a patrol in a sparsely populated area at the foot of the mountain, municipal security personnel spotted a truck being used to discard building materials. The Municipal Police were immediately alerted, initiating procedures to locate and apprehend the perpetrators.

Investigations revealed the individuals are involved in renovations and reside in a different municipality. The Municipality of Acharnes emphasized its zero-tolerance policy towards illegal waste disposal, vowing to impose the maximum legally prescribed fines and pursue necessary legal actions.

Acharnes Mayor stated that the municipality will not allow itself to be turned into a landfill or permit the endangerment of the natural environment and the Parnitha National Park. Protecting residents' daily lives, the environment, and the rule of law are non-negotiable priorities. The municipal services remain on full alert to address such incidents, thanking employees for their contribution and urging all citizens to assist in preserving the area.
