Illegal fuel depot found in Hidalgo; 33 stolen transport units recovered

Hidalgo, Mexico – Authorities have dismantled a clandestine site in Hidalgo used for storing stolen fuel, commonly known as "huachicol." The discovery, located on the border of Mineral de la Reforma and Epazoyucan municipalities, led to the recovery of 33 stolen federal transport vehicles.

Intelligence operations, conducted jointly by the Hidalgo State Attorney General's Office and the Secretariat of National Defense, pinpointed the location. Officials identified the property as a storage hub for stolen cargo units and specialized machinery. The recovered vehicles included excavators, tractor-trailers, dry vans, and dollies, all confirmed to have been reported stolen.

Intelligence actions carried out in conjunction with the Attorney General's Office of the State of Hidalgo and the Secretariat of National Defense allowed us to locate the property intended for the storage of federal autotransport units, including tractor-trailers, dry vans, platforms, and dollies.

During the raid, law enforcement also seized a significant quantity of illicit substances, including 887 doses of marijuana and 40 doses of crystal methamphetamine. This operation is considered one of the most substantial successes in the ongoing fight against the theft of cargo units on federal highways.

No arrests were made during the operation. The seized vehicles, machinery, and drugs have been handed over to the Public Ministry to initiate the corresponding investigation files. The discovery underscores the persistent challenge of fuel theft and organized crime in the region.
