Emilio Lozoya's sister seeks to confirm new arrest warrant

Gilda Susana Lozoya Austin, sister of former Petróleos Mexicanos director Emilio Lozoya, has filed another amparo lawsuit. She seeks to ascertain if a new arrest warrant has been issued against her.

Lozoya Austin filed the lawsuit last Wednesday, citing investigation file FED/SEIDF/CGI-CDMX/000017/2017 as the contested act and judges at the Reclusorio Norte as responsible authorities. A provisional suspension was granted, stipulating that she remains available to the court regarding her freedom and to the judge of the case if charged with offenses requiring mandatory pretrial detention.

She faces a 29,000 peso bond to maintain the provisional suspension. In July, the Attorney General's Office (FGR) revealed an ongoing investigation into Gilda Susana for illicit association, linked to bribes from the Brazilian construction company Odebrecht. The FGR alleges she profited from bribes her brother Emilio allegedly received for public works contracts during former President Enrique Peña Nieto's administration.

The investigation, dating back to 2017 under file number FED/SEIDF/CGICDMX/0000117/201, is part of criminal case 117/2017. This legal maneuver follows a previous definitive suspension granted to Gilda Lozoya against her indictment for money laundering.
