"El Furbi," Alleged La Unión Tepito Member, Arrested After Armed Robbery in Venustiano Carranza; Three Others Detained

Police in Mexico City arrested four men, including a suspect identified as "El Furbi," allegedly linked to the La Unión Tepito crime group, during an armed robbery in the Venustiano Carranza borough.

"El Furbi," 32, is also under investigation for a shooting incident on April 30 in the La Malinche neighborhood, which left a 33-year-old man injured. The arrests occurred when officers on patrol in the Revolución neighborhood responded to a call from two young men who reported being robbed at gunpoint. The suspects attempted to flee on two motorcycles but were apprehended after a pursuit.

During the arrest, authorities seized seven cell phones, cash, two handguns, and six bullets. Three other men, aged 24, 28, and 36, were detained along with "El Furbi." A 39-year-old woman was also arrested for attempting to interfere with the police operation.

According to the Citizen Security Secretariat (SSC), the 24-year-old detainee has prior arrests for kidnapping and drug offenses in 2025, 2023, and 2022. The SSC also links "El Furbi" to a violent crime group operating in the city center, allegedly involved in extortion and drug trafficking. The four men and the woman are now in the custody of the capital's prosecutor's office, which will determine their legal status.
