Imelda Castro Reveals She Has Security Escorts Due to Safety Concerns

Imelda Castro Castro, the newly elected coordinator for the Defense of the Fourth Transformation, has disclosed that she is now accompanied by a security detail. This measure has been put in place due to the prevailing safety concerns within the state and the extensive travel she will undertake across various municipalities, often at different times of the day and night.

Castro explained that the security arrangements were facilitated through the political parties forming an alliance: Morena, the Ecologist Green Party of Mexico, and the Labor Party. These parties jointly managed the request for protection with federal authorities, who subsequently assigned a security group to her. The senator, currently on leave, emphasized that the escorts were assigned based on an analysis conducted by the three supporting political forces regarding the current conditions in Sinaloa.

She justified the need for this protection by highlighting her responsibility to conduct continuous tours throughout the state's 20 municipalities. These tours will involve travel at various hours, including nighttime, making the security measures a necessary consideration for her activism. Castro stressed that the request for protection was not a personal whim but a collective evaluation made with the national leadership of the three allied political institutes.

According to Castro, the alliance leadership concluded that the context in Sinaloa warrants her having security escorts. This decision underscores the perceived security challenges in the region and the proactive steps being taken to ensure the safety of political figures undertaking public engagement.
