Indian-American community marks 80th Independence Day with historic milestones across US

New York – The Indian diaspora and friends of India marked India's 80th Independence Day with vibrant celebrations and historic milestones across the United States. Iconic landmarks on both coasts became canvases for patriotic fervor, showcasing the Indian Tricolour.

In New York City, Times Square transformed into a spectacle of saffron, white, and green as the Consul General of India, Ambassador Binaya Srikanta Pradhan, hoisted the National Flag. The event, organized by the Federation of Indian Associations (FIA), brought together members of the Indian-American community and US dignitaries in a spirited display of unity and shared values. High-energy cultural performances celebrated India's rich heritage, reflecting the diaspora's deep-rooted pride and the robust India-US strategic partnership.

The heart of New York, Times Square, witnessed the Tricolour as Consul General @binaysrikant76 hoisted the National Flag at an event organized by FIA @FIANYNJCTNE to mark India's 80th Independence Day. The celebration brought together members of the Indian-American community and friends of India in a spirited display of pride and unity. Cultural performances showcased India's rich heritage and reflected the enduring strength of the India-US partnership.

History was made during a celebration at the Consulate General of India, where the community achieved a Guinness World Record for the "Largest Flagpole Number." This feat commemorated both "India@80" and "America@250." The record-breaking event was a collaboration between the Consulate General, FIA, and supported by the global technology company Zoho. Dignitaries present included the Lt. Governor of New Jersey, Dr. Dale G. Caldwell, U.S. Congresswoman Analilia Mejia, and Parsippany Mayor Pulkit Desai, alongside community leaders.

Meanwhile, Seattle hosted significant celebrations featuring an impressive delegation of guests. Attendees included cricketing legend Sunil Gavaskar, Washington State Senator Tina Orwall, Redmond Mayor Angela Birney, Kent Mayor Dana Ralph, T-Mobile President & CEO Srini Gopalan, Veeam Software CEO Anand Eswaran, and spiritual thinker C. The events underscored the strong bonds between India and the US and the active engagement of the Indian-American community.
