Omani heritage showcased at Al-Ashkhara horse show

The Al-Ashkhara district in Oman recently hosted a vibrant traditional horse show as part of the "Al-Ashkhara Atmosphere 2026" forum. The event drew significant participation from horse owners and riders across various Omani governorates, as well as international visitors.

Organizers stated the primary goal was to present Omani heritage in a dynamic, living form. It offered horsemen and traditional groups a stage to display their skills and cultural practices to the public. Such heritage events are seen as crucial for preserving Oman's traditions, enhancing the visitor experience, and boosting the local economy and tourism infrastructure.

The forum, a collaboration between the Ajwaa Al-Ashkhara Forum Committee and the Al-Asayel Equestrian Club, featured more than 100 horses and riders. Participants hailed from Jaalan Bani Bu Ali, other parts of South Al Sharqiyah, and North Al Sharqiyah.

The program included a wide array of equestrian skills, such as riding, handling, racing, taming, and tent pegging. Young riders also demonstrated their abilities, ensuring the continuation of these traditional practices. The event was further enriched by traditional Omani arts, including Al-Razha, Al-Bar'a, Al-Azi, and maritime arts, creating a comprehensive cultural display.
