Indian Foreign Secretary meets Sri Lankan Prime Minister

Indian Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri and his delegation met with Sri Lankan Prime Minister Dr. Harini Amarasuriya at the Prime Minister's official residence, the Temple Trees, during a state visit to Sri Lanka.

The meeting centered on Sri Lanka's ongoing educational reforms and the potential for increased bilateral cooperation in the education sector. Prime Minister Amarasuriya briefed the Indian delegation on the government's initiatives for educational transformation, the promotion of digital education, and efforts to ensure quality education for all citizens.

Discussions also covered strengthening existing relationships between higher education institutions of both countries. Both sides expressed interest in expanding student exchange programs, fostering collaborative research, and enhancing academic cooperation.

The meeting was attended by Indian High Commissioner Santosh Jha, Joint Secretary of the Ministry of External Affairs Prasanna Srivastava, Deputy High Commissioner Maitreyi Kulkarni, and senior officials from the Prime Minister's office and relevant ministries in Sri Lanka.
