Indian-origin student athlete killed by drunk driver in Ohio

Warren JFK High School's football community is mourning the loss of Sarosh Sheth, a promising student and athlete who died tragically in Ohio. The 21-year-old neuroscience major at Ohio State University was killed when a Ford Mustang ran a red light and struck two pedestrians while they were on the sidewalk.

The incident occurred on a Wednesday afternoon when the driver, reportedly under the influence of alcohol and/or narcotics, sped through an intersection. The vehicle hit the pedestrians before crashing into a Kroger parking lot, where it came to rest on a parked car.

While one pedestrian, Sheth, was pronounced dead at a local hospital, the other pedestrian and the driver sustained injuries. The driver was arrested on suspicion of operating a vehicle under the influence, though further charges are pending the results of toxicology tests and the ongoing investigation.

Sheth, the son of doctors, was remembered by his former high school coach, Damon Buente, as someone who "embodied everything it meant to be a Warren JFK Eagle." Buente highlighted Sheth's belief in family, faith, humility, drive, chivalry, service, and empathy, expressing the community's devastation at the "unspeakable tragedy."

The Warren JFK football community is devastated by the gut-wrenching news of Sarosh Sheth's passing. I am at a loss of words to describe how his former teammates, coaches, administrators, classmates and teachers feel upon learning of this unspeakable tragedy. But I can and will say this -- Sarosh Sheth embodied everything it meant to be a Warren JFK Eagle through and through. Sarosh believed in family, faith, humility, drive, chivalry, service and empathy.
