Indian Passenger Tries to Open Plane Door Mid-Flight; Subdued by Crew and Passengers

A Batik Air flight bound for India experienced a terrifying incident when a passenger attempted to open an emergency exit door minutes before landing. The 34-year-old Indian man, identified as Jamsheer Athanikkal, reportedly became agitated and began banging on the window near the emergency exit, trying to force it open.

His disruptive behavior escalated as he shouted threats at crew members and fellow passengers who tried to intervene. Fortunately, the quick actions of the flight attendants and other passengers allowed them to overpower and restrain Athanikkal. The aircraft landed safely at Cochin International Airport without further incident.

Following the landing, airport security handed the man over to local police. He is now facing charges of criminal intimidation and endangering public safety. The motive behind his alarming actions remains under investigation by the police.
