Indian patient injured in Phu Quoc boat capsize discharged, returns home

A 54-year-old Indian national, who was the most critically injured in a boat capsize incident off Phu Quoc, has been discharged from Cho Ray Hospital and is returning to India. The patient had been receiving specialized intensive care for 12 days following the incident.

Doctors reported that the patient's recovery is nearly complete. They can now walk short distances, manage personal hygiene, and eat independently. Vital signs such as heart rate and blood pressure are stable, indicating the patient is fit for travel on a commercial flight. The hospital emphasized that long-term health monitoring will continue in India.

The patient's health is sufficient to return to India on a commercial flight and continue to be monitored long-term at a healthcare facility in their home country.

Cho Ray Hospital will also provide a doctor to accompany the patient during the flight to ensure their health and safety. The patient expressed profound gratitude to the medical team, describing their recovery as a "miracle" they could hardly believe. The hospital had previously recognized eight doctors and medical staff for their exceptional efforts in treating the victims of the Phu Quoc boat capsize.
