Omani youth trained in sustainable transport tech through EV-Pro program

Oman's youth are gaining expertise in sustainable transport technologies through the "Electric Vehicle Experts" (EV-Pro) program. The initiative, a collaboration between the Youth Centre and Shell Oman Marketing company, concluded its third edition with a ceremony on Wednesday.

Running from July 19 to August 27, 2026, the EV-Pro program trained 35 young men and women from various universities and colleges. Participants delved into the latest electric vehicle technologies, covering essential areas such as industry infrastructure, simulation, planning, charging network models, and maintenance. They also explored the economic viability of electric vehicles and their significant contribution to reducing greenhouse gas emissions.

The program also emphasized environmental challenges, sustainability principles, and the United Nations' Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Through workshops focused on measuring environmental impact and interactive activities, students developed sustainable solutions tailored to local needs. This aligns with the Sultanate of Oman's broader objective to achieve carbon neutrality by 2050, fostering a generation equipped to drive the nation's green initiatives.
