Indonesia announces 2027 Hajj pilgrim list, urges engagement with future pilgrims

Indonesia's Ministry of Religious Affairs has officially announced the waiting list for prospective Hajj pilgrims scheduled to depart in the 1448 Hijri year, corresponding to 2027. This announcement marks a significant step in the Hajj organization process for the upcoming year.

Deputy Minister of Hajj and Umrah, Dahnil Anzar Simanjuntak, emphasized the critical need for all civil servants within the ministry to cultivate deep engagement and maintain consistent communication with prospective pilgrims. "First, what must be prepared is that all of you must have strong engagement with the pilgrims. That is what we want to build," he stated, highlighting the importance of building a strong connection from the initial stages.

Simanjuntak described this connection as 'ta'limul qulub,' or a 'heart-to-heart bond,' in religious terms, emphasizing the development of profound spiritual ties between the Hajj organizers and the pilgrims. He stressed that the ministry's role extends far beyond that of a travel agent. Instead, as an institution established by President Prabowo Subianto, the ministry is entrusted with nurturing, guiding, and ensuring a valuable transformation of noble values throughout the Hajj pilgrimage.

The ministry's objective is to facilitate not only the successful execution of the pilgrimage rituals but also to foster economic understanding and promote societal progress and good conduct. This holistic approach, encapsulated in the 'Tri Success' – Success in Rituals, Success in Economy, and Success in Civilization and Conduct – aims to ensure pilgrims gain spiritual, moral, and civilizational benefits from their sacred journey.
