Indonesia men’s basketball team steps up Asian Games preparations as final roster nears announcement

Indonesia’s men’s basketball team has moved directly into preparations for the 2026 Asian Games after completing the FIBA Asia Cup 2029 pre-qualifiers in Seremban, Malaysia.

The squad’s training camp began on Sept. 2 at the ROAR Performance Center in Kemang, South Jakarta. Nearly all of the players who represented Indonesia in the pre-qualifiers took part, joined by four players called up specifically for the Asian Games: Brandon Jawato, Lester Prosper, Abraham Damar Grahita and Andakara Prastawa.

Their inclusion gives the coaching staff more options as it works toward the final composition for the tournament. Indonesia has been drawn in Pool A alongside host Japan, South Korea and Saudi Arabia. The group competition is scheduled to begin on Sept. 10, 2026.

A 12-player list circulating in the media and attributed to the official Asian Games website prompted clarification from Jeremy Imanuel Santoso, managing director of the Indonesian National Team Body at the Indonesian Basketball Association. He said the list did not represent the team’s latest Asian Games roster.

“I want to convey that the data recently uploaded by an online media outlet, which came from the official Asian Games website, is not the latest data,” Jeremy said in a written statement on Sept. 2. He explained that the list came from an earlier long list submitted to the Asian Games organizers.
