The Indonesian government is reintroducing discounted fares across multiple transportation modes to encourage mobility and economic activity during the 2026 school holidays and the upcoming Christmas and New Year period. This initiative, announced by Minister of Transportation Dudy Purwagandhi, aligns with President Prabowo Subianto's directive to support public purchasing power and manage prices.

This measure is intended to ensure that safe, secure, and comfortable transportation services remain accessible to the public during periods of increased travel.

The fare discounts are formalized through a joint decree involving the Minister of Transportation, the Minister of Finance, and the Head of the Investment Management Agency for Nusantara's Power (Danantara). This regulation provides the basis for implementing the economic stimulus program, designed to support national economic activity by making travel more affordable. The government anticipates that this initiative will not only facilitate public travel but also contribute to the overall growth of the Indonesian economy.
