Indonesia's coffee breaks into China and Morocco via Warehouse Receipt System

Indonesia's Warehouse Receipt System (SRG) is broadening export opportunities for the nation's commodities, with a recent inaugural shipment of coffee successfully reaching markets in China and Morocco. The initial export involved 38.4 tons of coffee, valued at $227,443.20, dispatched from the SRG KAI-ASLI Gedebage Warehouse in Bandung.

The shipment comprised one container of Robusta Grade 2 coffee (19.2 tons, $71,040) destined for Morocco and another container of Arabica Semi Wash coffee (19.2 tons, $156,403.20) bound for China. This export marks a significant step in leveraging the SRG not only as a financing instrument but also as a tool to enhance supply chain efficiency and access global markets.

PT Kliring Berjangka Indonesia (KBI), the registry center for SRG, reported that further exports are planned. The warehouse management has scheduled the shipment of eight more containers of Arabica Semi Wash coffee to China, totaling 153.6 tons with an estimated value of $1.25 million. This ongoing initiative demonstrates the system's potential to boost Indonesia's export capacity.

Budi Susanto, President Director of PT KBI, stated that the successful export proves SRG's capability to maintain commodity quality during storage, meeting international trade standards and enhancing competitiveness. KBI is committed to strengthening SRG's governance and digital services to build trust among businesses, financial institutions, and international markets, thereby expanding export opportunities and financing access for Indonesian farmers, cooperatives, and small and medium enterprises.
