Indonesia’s Constitutional Court seeks an additional Rp67 billion for 2027

Indonesia’s Constitutional Court has asked parliament to add Rp67 billion to its 2027 budget, which would bring its total requested allocation to Rp427.8 billion.

Secretary-General Heru Setiawan presented the request during a meeting with House Commission III in Jakarta. He said the proposal followed earlier meetings on June 15, when the court received approval to seek additional funding beyond the Rp360.8 billion ceiling set by the Finance Ministry.

Of the requested increase, Rp45 billion would fund case-handling programs. The court listed international cooperation in law and constitutional affairs, international conferences, technical training on litigation before the court and efforts to strengthen constitutional awareness.

Following up on this matter, the Constitutional Court has submitted a request for an additional Rp67 billion.

The remaining Rp21.8 billion would support anti-corruption and integrity programs, a courtroom video screen and renovations at court buildings in Jakarta and Bekasi. The money would also fund or renew support equipment, including an ambulance, generator, clinic equipment, CCTV, printers, laptops, multimedia devices, remote-hearing cameras, data-center cooling systems and information technology facilities.

Commission III member Andar Amin Harahap backed the proposal, saying the increase appeared small and that the commission would fully support it. The commission accepted Heru’s explanation of the existing budget ceiling and said it would work to advance the additional request.
