Indonesia's Economy Remains Resilient Amid Geopolitical Pressures, Finance Minister Says

Indonesia's economy has successfully navigated global geopolitical tensions and economic uncertainties, maintaining resilience and achieving robust growth, according to Finance Minister Purbaya Yudhi Sadewa. The nation's economy grew by 5.11 percent in 2025, a significant achievement amid global challenges that disrupt logistics and alter economic cooperation paradigms.

We should be grateful that amid the turmoil, Indonesia's economic stability remains maintained.

Minister Purbaya highlighted that Indonesia's economic stability has been preserved, with fiscal deficits kept in check at 2.92 percent and 2.81 percent of Gross Domestic Product (GDP). He expressed gratitude for this stability during a Plenary Session of the House of Representatives (DPR), which ratified the Bill on Accountability for the Implementation of the 2025 State Budget. This fiscal prudence, he noted, has also contributed to improved public welfare.

The positive economic performance is further evidenced by a decline in unemployment and poverty rates. The unemployment rate stood at 4.85 percent as of August 2025, down from 4.91 percent in the same period the previous year. Similarly, the poverty rate decreased to 8.25 percent in September, compared to 8.57 percent a year earlier. Minister Purbaya attributed these successes to the "hard work and solid collaboration" of all parties involved in national development.
