Indonesia's National Nutrition Agency gets new leadership

Indonesia's National Nutrition Agency (BGN) has undergone a significant leadership overhaul, with new officials appointed to key deputy positions. The reshuffling, announced Tuesday, July 21, 2026, sees President Prabowo Subianto appointing new faces to the agency's echelon 1 positions.

Agustina Arumsari, the Deputy Head of BGN, welcomed the new team, expressing confidence in their ability to advance the agency's programs, especially the "Free Nutritious Meal" (MBG) initiative. She noted that the new leadership brings diverse expertise crucial for evaluating and implementing the MBG program effectively. "I am happy because now I have a team that will review from the health side, review from the education side, review from the legal side, review from the state finance side. That's what makes me happy," Arumsari stated during a press conference.

The newly appointed officials include Lili Khamiliyah as Secretary General, Prima Yosephine Berliana Tumiur Hutapea as Deputy for Systems and Governance, Zainuri as Deputy for Provision and Distribution, Mariman Darto as Deputy for Promotion and Cooperation, and Ketut Sumedana as Deputy for Monitoring and Supervision. These individuals replace former officials, many of whom were retired military personnel. Arumsari highlighted that the new team's experience is expected to improve the governance and execution of the MBG program, contrasting it with the previous leadership's challenges.

Arumsari specifically introduced Prima Yosefin Berliana Tumiur Hutapea, the new Deputy for Systems and Governance. She emphasized that the previous structure, with only three key figures, had faced difficulties, and the retired status of some former deputies necessitated the changes. The new deputies are expected to work diligently, with Arumsari noting, "I have asked them to be ready to work until late at night."
