Indonesia's New BGN Chief Pledges Clean Management of Free Meals Program

Sudaryono, the newly appointed head of Indonesia's National Nutrition Agency (BGN), has vowed to uphold integrity and accountability in the implementation of the Free Nutritious Meals (MBG) program. Speaking after his swearing-in ceremony, Sudaryono emphasized his commitment to clean management and distanced himself and his family from any ownership stakes in the program's kitchen facilities, officially known as nutrition fulfillment service units (SPPGs).

Sudaryono's appointment follows the resignation of Nanink Sudaryati Deyang due to health reasons. Deyang had led the BGN for less than two months, succeeding Dadan Hindayana, who was arrested in early June 2026 on graft allegations, including operating SPPGs through a foundation linked to him. Sudaryono, previously the deputy agriculture minister, takes the helm of a program that was a key campaign pledge of President Prabowo Subianto.
