Indonesia's Parliamentarian Urges Welcoming Border Services as Nation's 'Face'

Muhammad Rifqinizamy Karsayuda, Chairman of Commission II of the Indonesian House of Representatives (DPR RI), stressed the critical role of border regions as Indonesia's "face" to other nations. Speaking at the 81st Indonesian Independence Day ceremony at the Entikong State Border Crossing Post (PLBN) in West Kalimantan, he called for welcoming and friendly services at entry points.

"Be the first entrance and showcase that is friendly, that gives the best impression to any foreign national crossing the border," Karsayuda stated. He reminded attendees that Indonesia's 81 years of independence were the result of a long struggle, urging citizens to contribute meaningfully by maintaining unity and fulfilling their responsibilities.

Karsayuda underscored the strategic significance of border areas as gateways for people and goods, and as points of interaction with neighboring countries. He emphasized that border management extends beyond security concerns to encompass public service, aiming to showcase Indonesia's national character and values.

The ceremony, held near the Indonesia-Malaysia border, was attended by military and police officials, local leaders, and community members, and featured cultural performances.
