Indonesia Tackles Chicken Price Volatility with Egg Purchases and Feed Subsidies

Indonesia is implementing a multi-pronged strategy to support its chicken farmers amidst volatile market conditions. Minister of Agriculture Andi Amran Sulaiman announced that the government will actively intervene to stabilize the industry, particularly for small-scale producers who are most vulnerable to price swings.

Minister Sulaiman confirmed that official requests and direct communication with the BGN head have secured agreement for this initiative, aiming to provide a guaranteed market for farmers' produce.

The minister emphasized the government's commitment to protecting small farmers, addressing concerns over the rising costs of feed and Day Old Chicks (DOC), which significantly impact production expenses. He also issued a stern warning against any market manipulation by "mafias and corruptors" that could harm farmers.
