Indonesia to Host FIFA ASEAN Cup 2026; Schedule Forthcoming

Indonesia has secured the hosting rights for the prestigious FIFA ASEAN Cup 2026, marking a significant event for the nation's football landscape. The tournament is slated to be held in Jakarta and West Java, with matches unfolding between September and October 2026.

We are still waiting for the announcement from FIFA regarding the match schedule and also which teams will compete in Jakarta or other regions, but hopefully, it will be announced in the next few days.

Erick Thohir, the Chairman of the Football Association of Indonesia (PSSI), confirmed the hosting agreement, emphasizing that this is an official FIFA tournament. While the specific participating teams and the exact match schedule are yet to be finalized, Thohir indicated that FIFA is expected to release these details shortly. He expressed optimism that more information would be available within the coming days.

Thohir highlighted that preparations for the FIFA ASEAN Cup 2026 are already underway. He specifically sought the support of regional governments, including the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government, to ensure the event's success. Thohir noted the valuable experience of the Governor of DKI Jakarta, Pramono Anung, in supporting previous international tournaments like the FIFA U-17 World Cup, anticipating strong collaboration.

Alhamdulillah, Mr. Governor (Pramono Anung) also has experience when he helped during the FIFA U-17 event at that time in a different place. So he understands very well what the DKI Government needs to support, which is why I thank you, Mr. Governor.

He believes it presents a vital opportunity to foster national unity and project Indonesia's national character onto the international stage. Thohir appealed for maximum support from the DKI Jakarta government and the broader football community, emphasizing its importance for the Indonesian national team's performance in future international competitions.
