Indonesian Civil Registry Conducts Outreach for Vulnerable Residents

The Directorate General of Population and Civil Registration (Ditjen Dukcapil) in Indonesia is actively working to bring essential civil registration services closer to vulnerable populations. From August 18 to 22, 2026, the agency conducted an outreach program in Palu City, Central Sulawesi, focusing on residents who face challenges in accessing traditional office-based services.

The initiative specifically targeted individuals in locations such as special needs schools (SLB), sub-districts, and health facilities. This "jemput bola" or "pick up the ball" approach, as described by Sesario Fernandes, Deputy Head of the Population Identity Team at the Directorate of Population Registration and Civil Registry, is crucial for ensuring that all residents, regardless of their limitations, receive their vital civil registration documents.

Fernandes emphasized that this hands-on approach aligns with Dukcapil's rebranding efforts. The agency aims to be more than just a document issuer; it strives to be a responsive service provider that understands and addresses the needs of its citizens. Over the three days of the outreach, officials successfully issued 726 civil registration documents, demonstrating the program's effectiveness in reaching and serving the intended population.
