Indonesian Employee Arrested for AI-Manipulated Video of President Prabowo

Authorities in Cimahi, West Java, have arrested a private sector employee identified by the initials FG for allegedly manipulating an image of President Prabowo Subianto using artificial intelligence (AI). The suspect also added negative commentary to the AI-generated video.

Kombes Pol Hendra Rochmawan, Head of Public Relations for the West Java Regional Police, stated that officers received a report on August 3, 2026, concerning a social media post from the account 'talentastudio'. The post featured an AI-edited image of the president accompanied by detrimental narration.

"There is an AI content video that manipulates, showing Mr. President Prabowo Subianto, and there is even narration in the video stating that if he becomes president, the country will be in chaos," Rochmawan explained.

Following the report, investigators launched a probe and successfully apprehended the suspect in Surabaya, East Java. Several pieces of evidence were confiscated, including an iPhone 15 Pro Max, TikTok and Instagram accounts, a Saweria Gmail account, and a CPU. Police have also questioned several witnesses and expert witnesses as part of the investigation.
