Indonesian High School Student Killed by Train at Jurangmangu Station, Investigation Underway

A high school student, identified by the initials AP and aged 14, was laid to rest at the Marabunta Public Cemetery in Pondok Ranji, Tangerang Selatan, on Tuesday. Her funeral prayers were held at the At Taqwa Mosque in the Pertamina Pondok Ranji Complex.

The student tragically died on Monday after being struck by an electric rail train (KRL) at Jurangmangu Station. Local police expressed condolences to the victim's family, offering prayers for her soul and a place in the afterlife.

Authorities from the Ciputat Timur Police are actively investigating the incident. They have examined the crime scene, interviewed witnesses, assessed the victim's condition, and collected personal belongings for the investigation. The police aim to establish the full sequence of events leading to the student's death.

Initial reports from witnesses indicate that the victim was on the platform when a train approached Jurangmangu Station. Security personnel observed the student falling onto the tracks. Police have also spoken with friends of the victim, who stated they were returning home from school together and went to Jurangmangu Station, where they separated to wait for trains at different locations.
