Indonesian House Speaker Puan Maharani Highlights Eight Public Concerns

Puan Maharani, Speaker of the Indonesian House of Representatives (DPR RI), has drawn attention to eight critical issues that are of significant concern to the public and require government action. She presented these points during a plenary session of the DPR RI in Jakarta.

Maharani stated that the DPR RI, through its oversight function, is committed to ensuring the government's performance positively impacts the lives of its citizens. She then detailed the eight areas demanding attention.

The identified issues span a wide range of societal needs. They include the resolution of various legal cases, the relaxation of policies regarding employee spending in regional areas, and the expansion of employment opportunities. Protection for migrant workers and online transportation workers was also highlighted. Furthermore, Maharani emphasized the need for proactive measures against forest and land fires, addressing the impacts of prolonged drought on water availability and agriculture, and evaluating the governance of national education and budget management.

Additional concerns raised were the creation of a more conducive investment climate to stimulate real sector growth, the issue of workforce layoffs (PHK), and improving access to the national health security program, BPJS Kesehatan. The plenary session also included President Prabowo Subianto's speech regarding the draft state budget for the 2027 fiscal year.
