Indonesian Islamic Boarding School Produces Bottled Water for Economic Independence

Pondok Pesantren Al-Ashriyyah Nurul Iman, located in Parung, Bogor Regency, is cultivating economic independence through a new bottled water production unit. The initiative, named Ointika, utilizes Reverse Osmosis technology to ensure water quality meets high standards.

The pesantren actively involves its students in the production process. These students, engaged in a "pengabdian" (service) program, gain hands-on experience in various stages of manufacturing. This practical involvement is designed to equip them with essential entrepreneurial skills and industrial knowledge, complementing their religious education.

Each production cycle yields between 2,000 to 3,000 bottles of Ointika water in 600ml and 330ml sizes. Currently, the product is marketed primarily within the pesantren community and for internal events. The pesantren views this business unit as a crucial step in building economic self-reliance and empowering its students.

By participating in the Ointika venture, students learn about business management, production processes, and work responsibilities. The development of such productive units is expected to bolster the institution's financial stability and provide students with valuable skills that extend beyond their academic studies, preparing them for life after graduation.
