Indonesian KPK Details Evidence in Muara Enim Regent Bribery Case

Indonesia's Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has provided specifics on the evidence gathered in the bribery case implicating the Regent of Muara Enim, Edison. The investigation has uncovered substantial amounts of cash and significant bank balances as part of the alleged corruption scheme.

According to Achmad Taufik Husein, Acting Director of Investigation at KPK, the evidence includes Rp323 million in cash seized from a backpack belonging to Abi Nurwardani, the Secretary of the Muara Enim Regency's Education and Culture Office. Further cash, amounting to Rp40 million, US$3,200, and 2,260 Saudi riyals, was found in a safe at Nurwardani's home.

In addition to physical cash, the KPK detailed bank account balances totaling around Rp1.47 billion held under the names of other individuals, suggesting a potential network of nominees used to conceal the illicit funds. The KPK announced the arrest of ten individuals on June 8, 2026, as part of its twelfth sting operation of the year.

Edison, the Regent of Muara Enim, was among those arrested. On June 9, 2026, the KPK officially named four suspects in the case, including Edison, Abi Nurwardani, Cory Erin Hardi (a marketing employee at PT Millenium Solusi Abadi), and Adi Triyadi, who is identified as Edison's nephew. The alleged bribery is linked to the procurement of goods and services within the Muara Enim Regency government for the 2025-2026 fiscal year.
