Indonesian Lawmakers Discuss Budget Policies with Regional Government Association

Indonesian lawmakers met with the Association of Indonesian Regency Governments (APKASI) on Friday to discuss budget policies and regional development. The meeting, attended by DPR Deputy Speaker Sufmi Dasco Ahmad, DPR member Cucun Ahmad Syamsurijal, and APKASI Chairman Bursah Zarnubi, aimed to gather input on governance and development support for various regions.

A key topic was the controversial budget efficiency policy. Lawmakers acknowledged the public debate and committed to finding optimal solutions in collaboration with the central government. Cucun emphasized that the DPR is open to hearing directly from regents, stating their aspirations are crucial for pushing budget policies that support regional development.

Bursah Zarnubi of APKASI appreciated the dialogue, highlighting the importance of central-local synergy in the current fiscal climate. He urged that budget efficiency measures should still allow regions to maintain the quality of essential services like education, health, and infrastructure.

The DPR reiterated its commitment to creating optimal budget policies and supporting regional progress through cooperation with the government and regents. The outcome of the dialogue will be coordinated with the central government to ensure budget policies align with regional development needs.
