Indonesian Minister denies using private jet for work trips

Indonesia's Minister of Public Works, Dody Hanggodo, has refuted claims that he utilized a private jet during his recent work visit to Eastern Indonesia. Addressing the public discussion surrounding his travel, Hanggodo clarified that the aircraft he used belongs to the state and is operated by the Ministry of Transportation, not a private charter.

"No, that is a state-owned aircraft operated by the Ministry of Transportation," Hanggodo stated on Thursday. He explained that the use of non-commercial flights was a practical necessity driven by a demanding work schedule. His itinerary often required him to visit two to three provinces or several districts within a single day to monitor infrastructure projects.

Hanggodo further elaborated that his work often extended late into the night upon arrival at his destination, before continuing his journey to another location the following day. He emphasized that the use of state aircraft was solely to ensure the efficiency and effectiveness of his duties, countering the narrative that he had used a private jet.

"As far as I know, I prefer to continue using state aircraft, not a private jet as has been mentioned," Hanggodo asserted. His clarification aims to correct the public perception and highlight the logistical challenges and governmental resources utilized to fulfill his responsibilities across the vast Indonesian archipelago.
