Indonesian Ministry distributes 150 life jackets to fishermen for safe sailing

Indonesia's Ministry of Transportation has provided 150 life jackets to fishermen in Muara Angke, North Jakarta, as part of a campaign to foster a culture of safe sailing and minimize maritime accident risks in the capital's coastal areas.

In addition to life jackets, other aid was distributed, including 2,216 "Buku Pelaut Merah" (Red Sailor Books) and 6 small e-passes. Masyhud highlighted Muara Angke as a strategic area with high shipping and fishing activity, emphasizing that vessel mobility must be matched by compliance with safety regulations. He called for shared responsibility in maritime safety, urging ship owners, operators, captains, crew, and fishermen to ensure vessels are seaworthy before departure.

This distribution is a continuation of previous safety campaigns in the area, which included the delivery of 604 life jackets and other supplies in December 2025.
