Indonesian Police Arrest 9 Suspects in Killing of 3 Anti-Narcotics Officers

Indonesian police have apprehended nine suspects allegedly involved in a drug operation that led to the killing of three members of the Katingan Narcotics Investigation Unit in Central Kalimantan. The arrests are the culmination of a coordinated operation spanning multiple locations.

The joint operation, involving various police units from Central and East Kalimantan, took place from July 3 to July 8. The suspects, identified by initials including SD, DN, IMP, NM, ARS, ML, BO, RL, and BS, were apprehended in six different locations within Central and East Kalimantan.

They each had different roles in this case, from carrying homemade firearms, shooting officers, to inciting residents.

According to Brig. Gen. Pol. Eko Hadi Santoso, Director of Narcotics Crimes at the National Police's Criminal Investigation Agency (Bareskrim Polri), the suspects played various roles in the incident. These roles allegedly included carrying homemade firearms, shooting at officers, and inciting local residents. Some suspects were also involved in disposing of the victims' bodies in a river.

Authorities are actively searching for three additional individuals on the wanted list (DPO). These fugitives, identified as PA, DR, and IL, are believed to have been involved in the attack, carrying weapons such as knives, machetes, and firearms, and participating in the pursuit and assault of the officers. The incident began on July 2 when the Katingan police conducted a raid on a suspected drug dealer's house in Tumbang Kalemei village.
