Indonesian police investigate temporary paralysis linked to 'Whip Pink' gas

Indonesian police are investigating a concerning incident involving a consumer of 'Whip Pink' brand nitrous oxide gas who suffered temporary paralysis. The consumer, identified by the initials AM, reportedly lost control of their bodily functions, particularly their legs, while being transported to the hospital, leading to a fall.

Authorities obtained this information after questioning AM, who is currently undergoing intensive care. According to the Director of Cyber Crime at Bareskrim Polri, Brig. Gen. Pol. Eko Hadi Santoso, AM's condition is believed to be a direct result of using the 'Whip Pink' product without strict medical supervision. This aligns with warnings from the Ministry of Health regarding the dangers of inhaling nitrous oxide directly, which can cause peripheral neuropathy.

AM explained that the use of the 'Whip Pink' brand nitrous oxide gas product is strongly suspected to have impacted his health, requiring intensive care at a hospital in Tangerang.

Peripheral neuropathy is a condition characterized by damage to the nerves outside the brain and spinal cord, leading to symptoms such as numbness, tingling, and loss of coordination. AM is still undergoing treatment for the effects suspected to be caused by the 'Whip Pink' gas. The consumer reportedly began using the product after encountering it at a club in North Jakarta, where it was sold via balloons, and later ordered it directly through Instagram.

Further investigations have included questioning another witness, CD, who admitted to purchasing 'Whip Pink' multiple times between mid-2025 and early 2026. CD described the process of ordering the gas online and inhaling it through a funnel, often closing their eyes while doing so. The police are continuing their investigation into the distribution and effects of this product.
